How will judging be done this year?

Member polls. Fic polls will not list author names and any author info will be removed from the entries for the duration of the voting period. After voting is complete, names and author info will be returned and all credit given. Art polls will not list artist names, but we will not remove any signatures in the pic. After voting is complete, all credit will be given. We do this to be fair to all contestants. By listing names in the polls, some people may just vote for their favorite author or artitst without giving all entries a chance. This way, they won't know who did what until voting is over. (Except with noticeably familiar work, esspecially in art ^^;;) We may even resort to using numbers instead of titles since none of the entries have to be new. Then it would all be a shot in the dark! ^_~ Polls will (should) be open September 1st and will (God willing ^^;;) conclude on October 31st.

How was judging done last year?

With judges! ^^ The judges viewed the entries in each of their categories, then graded them, giving a different one per category if necessary. Then, once all the judges had sent in all their grades, I added up the grades from each judge for each entry, then divided the total by the number of judges for that category to get the entry's absolute final grade. The ones with the highest absolute final grade were the winners. Example: 'Boo' in angst, with 3 judges, grades: 35+40+37 divided by 3 (number of judges) = 37.33333 . . . *cough* You get the idea. ^^;; It took forever to do, and I don't much like to go through *that* again! Can you blame me? Not that it was any easier on the judges . . .

Who did the judging?

I cannot, at this time, divulge this information. Though I sincerly and whole-heartedly appreciate all their hard work, I would not want them to get harrassed because someone didn't like the results.

How did you judge fics?

By points. Judges gave points for grammar and spelling (1-10), story development (1-20), content (pertaining to the category/TU theme) (1-50), and overall feel (1-100). Then they added all the points and then divided the total by four (number of point categories), the new total being the final grade.

How did you judge pics?

In a similiar fashion as fics, but, obviously, a bit differently. Points were given for initial reaction (1-20), further impression and content (1-50), and overall feel (1-100). Once the points were added together, the total was divided by 3 (number of point categories), giving the final grade.

How did you judge top picks?

Simple. (Yeah, right! >.<;;) I just read all the fics and looked at all the pics and picked my favorite of each. Not. Easy. So many fics to read, to many wonderful pics to choose from. ^^;; I was sorely tempted to use a 'eenie-meenie-miney-moe' method to choose! ^^;; Now, I had already chosen my top picks before I finished tallying up the totals to see who won what. Imagine my surprise when both my top picks were winners. ^^ Guess I know how to pick 'em, huh? ^_~
